Mesa birthdays divide sharply by season. October to April the weather is the best in the country and the backyard is the venue. May to September you are indoors, or you start after sunset.

2. A backyard or pool party
The Valley default and superb for seven months. In summer it begins at eight in the evening.
3. A community or HOA clubhouse
Underused and often free for residents. Air-conditioned and private — it just needs something planned in it.
4. A private dining room
Downtown Mesa and Gilbert have good rooms for twenty to forty at fair prices.
5. A lake or river day
Excellent October to April and a genuine local pleasure.
6. A brewery buyout
A growing scene at good value. Better for a drinking crowd.
7. Bowling or an arcade bar
Indoors and air-conditioned, which in summer is most of the argument.
8. A house party with something planned
Cheapest and most flexible. Needs a plan.
