Oakland birthdays have an advantage most cities do not: the food is exceptional and comparatively affordable, and the weather rarely interferes. The challenge is a guest list scattered across the East Bay and beyond.
1. A private murder mystery party
Ours, and first because it turns a scattered, mixed guest list into a single shared activity. Everyone gets a character and a secret.
We come to your venue — a house in Rockridge, a hall in Temescal, a private room in Uptown.
2. A private dining room
Uptown, Temescal and Jack London all have excellent rooms for twenty to forty, and the food genuinely justifies the evening.
3. A backyard party
Works most of the year here. Evenings cool quickly once the fog comes in.
4. A brewery buyout
A strong scene at decent value. Suits a younger, drinking crowd.
5. A day at Lake Merritt
Free, central and pleasant. Very much a daytime option.
6. A cooking class
Better here than almost anywhere. Twelve to twenty-five, indoors.
7. Bowling or an arcade bar
Indoors, unfussy, and forgiving of the fog. Loud and splits by lane.
8. A house party with something planned
Cheapest and most flexible. Needs a plan.
If your guest list is scattered across the Bay and you want them all in one thing, We bring the host, the storyline and every piece of the game to your venue, and we ask for about 45 days so it can be staffed and prepared properly. Pricing and availability shows what your guest count works out to, you can book a date directly, and the contact page reaches a person if you would rather talk it through first.
