Wichita birthdays have one local advantage nowhere else has: the Keeper of the Plains stands at the confluence of the two Arkansas rivers, and the fire pots are lit for fifteen minutes every evening. Build a birthday around being there at the right moment and you have something no other city can offer.
1. A private murder mystery party
Ours, and first because a Wichita guest list usually spans school, church and one of the big aircraft employers, and those groups do not mix on their own. Everyone gets a character and a secret, and within ten minutes your neighbour is accusing your cousin.
We come to your venue — a house in College Hill, a hall in Derby, a private room in Old Town.
2. The Keeper of the Plains at lighting time
Free, genuinely striking, and it takes fifteen minutes. Start the evening there and go on somewhere; it costs nothing and nobody forgets it.
3. A private dining room in Old Town
The brick warehouses hold good rooms for twenty to forty at prices that would be impossible on either coast.
4. A backyard party
Excellent in May and September. July here is humid, and the wind that makes Kansas famous will take a tablecloth off a table in April.
5. A brewery buyout
A small Old Town scene at good value. Better for a younger, drinking crowd.
6. A riverfront gathering
The Arkansas River path through the centre is genuinely pleasant and underused by locals.
7. Bowling or an arcade bar
Indoors and weather-proof, which given the wind matters more here than the temperature does.
8. A house party with something planned
Cheapest and most flexible. Without a plan it splits into the people from work and the people from everywhere else.
If your guest list is three separate parts of your life that have never met, We bring the host, the storyline and every piece of the game to your venue, and we ask for about 45 days so it can be staffed and prepared properly. Pricing and availability shows what your guest count works out to, you can book a date directly, and the contact page reaches a person if you would rather talk it through first.
