Richmond is good value for a company party and has more genuinely characterful venues than a city this size usually manages. The competition in December is real but not brutal, provided you move by September.
Nine options and their trade-offs.
1. A hosted murder mystery at your own venue
Ours, and first because it takes the venue race off the table entirely — we come to your office or a room you already have.
It also stops people spending the evening with their own department, which is the usual failing of a settled organisation's party.
2. A restaurant buyout
Good value. Carytown and downtown go first; settle it by September.
3. A brewery buyout
Scott's Addition, and it is the best value in the city. Non-drinkers need planning for.
4. A hotel ballroom
Right above a couple of hundred people, at sensible rates for the region.
5. A historic venue
Richmond has genuinely handsome buildings that do events. Long lead times and strict rules.
6. A daytime lunch
Better attended and much cheaper, particularly with staff spread to the West End and Midlothian.
7. A museum evening
The VMFA and others do private hire and it is a real draw. Guests wander, which limits it as a party.
8. A cooking or cocktail class
Good for twenty to thirty and reliably indoors.
9. Charitable giving instead of an event
Well received and not, by itself, a party.
Timing
Settle December by the end of September. We ask for about 45 days, so early October is the practical last call.
If you want the version where people actually mix across teams, We bring the host, the storyline and every piece of the game to your venue, and we ask for about 45 days so it can be staffed and prepared properly. Pricing and availability shows what your guest count works out to, you can book a date directly, and the contact page reaches a person if you would rather talk it through first.
