Baltimore teams are often split three ways: people downtown or at the harbour, people out in the county, and a surprising number who live here and work in DC. That last group is the one that decides your event, because they are already spending two hours a day on the road and will not add to it.
Eight options, ranked for whether people come and whether they mix.
1. A hosted murder mystery at your own office or venue
Ours. First because we come to you, which for a team with commuters is the whole ball game. Run it at four in the afternoon at your own office and nobody adds an hour to their day.
Everyone gets a character and a motive, half are suspects and the rest investigate. No experience needed, and the quiet ones usually solve it.
2. An escape room
Several around Fells Point and Towson. Genuinely strong for six to eight and useless above that, because you end up with separate teams in separate rooms.
3. An Orioles or Ravens game
Camden Yards is a genuinely good day out and easy to organise. It is three hours facing the same direction — a reward rather than team building.
4. A harbour cruise
Good from May to September, contained, and everyone is in one place. Weather-dependent and expensive per head.
5. A brewery buyout
Plenty in Canton, Hampden and out towards Halethorpe. Relaxed, good value, and non-drinkers become spectators without some planning.
6. A cooking class
Works for twelve to twenty-five. A shared task carries the first half hour, and costs are per head.
7. Volunteering
Well received here and there is no shortage of it. As always, parallel work rather than shared work.
8. A walking tour of Fell's Point or Mount Vernon
Interesting and good for teams with new arrivals. It is a listening activity, and it is outdoors in a city with real winters.
The Baltimore planning note
Parking. It sounds trivial and it is not — an event downtown where people have to find and pay for parking will lose you attendance against one in the county with a lot. And if you have DC commuters, an afternoon event beats an evening one every single time.
If you want the version where nobody adds an hour to their commute, We bring the host, the storyline and every piece of the game to your venue, and we ask for about 45 days so it can be staffed and prepared properly. Pricing and availability shows what your guest count works out to, you can book a date directly, and the contact page reaches a person if you would rather talk it through first.
