Team Building Activities in Denver: 8 Options Ranked

Team building ideas for Denver companies, ranked for altitude, a team that vanishes to the mountains, and what actually gets people talking.

The Denver skyline

Denver has a team building problem nobody names out loud: a large share of the workforce has an outdoor life that is more important to them than any work event, and Friday afternoon belongs to the mountains. Schedule badly and you are competing with I-70, and you will lose.

Eight options, ranked for whether people come and whether they mix.

1. A hosted murder mystery at your own office or venue

Ours, and first because it is the one that fits the Denver calendar. It runs mid-week, at your own office or a room you already have, in ninety minutes to two hours. Nobody has to give up a Saturday.

Everyone gets a character and a motive, half the room are suspects and the rest investigate. No experience needed, and it works just as well for a team that is half remote and only together twice a month.

2. A hike or a trail day

The obvious Denver answer and it does work, with two caveats. It self-selects hard — the people who already hike will love it and the people who do not will quietly not come — and altitude affects visitors from sea level more than locals remember.

3. A brewery buyout

Denver has more good options than almost any city in the country and they are genuinely good value. Casual, easy, and it turns non-drinkers into spectators unless you plan around it.

4. An escape room

Strong for six to eight, and there are plenty around LoDo and RiNo. Above eight you split into separate rooms and the team never actually combines.

5. A Rockies or Nuggets game

Simple and popular. Three hours facing the same direction is a reward, not team building.

6. A cooking class

Works for twelve to twenty-five, and a shared task carries the first half hour. Costs are per head and mount.

7. Volunteering

Well received in a city with a strong nonprofit sector. Parallel work rather than shared work, as everywhere.

8. A day trip to the foothills

Golden or Evergreen make a genuine outing. It is a full day, and the drive back on a Friday is its own event.

What to plan around in Denver

Avoid Fridays between June and September and anything the weekend of a big powder day in winter. Mid-week, late afternoon, indoors, is the format with the best attendance here — and if you have people flying in, remember they will feel the altitude for the first day whatever they say.

Pricing and availability shows what your guest count works out to, you can book a date directly, and the contact page reaches a person if you would rather talk it through first.
