New Orleans has a particular team building trap: every default suggestion here involves drinking, and a good part of your team will not want to. In a city where the obvious answer is always a bar crawl, the useful question is what you do instead.
Eight options, ranked.
1. A hosted murder mystery at your own office or venue
Ours, and first because it is a genuinely fun evening that does not require anyone to drink. Everyone gets a character and a motive, and the theatricality of it fits this city better than it fits most.
We come to you — an office in the CBD, a room in the Warehouse District, wherever you already are. Indoors and air-conditioned, which from May to October is essential.
2. A cooking class
Better here than almost anywhere, because the food actually means something. Good for twelve to twenty-five and reliably indoors.
3. A food or history walking tour
Genuinely interesting and very much of the city. It is a listening and walking activity, and in August it is punishing.
4. An escape room
A few good ones. Strong for six to eight, and it fragments above that.
5. A swamp tour
A real change of scene and something visitors talk about for years. Half a day with travel, and loud enough on the boat that nobody converses.
6. A Saints game
The atmosphere is genuinely remarkable. Three hours facing the same direction, and tickets are not easy.
7. A brewery or distillery tour
Fine, and it lands back in the drinking-default problem.
8. Volunteering
Very well received in this city, and there is real need. Parallel work rather than shared work.
The New Orleans planning note
Two things. June to October is hurricane season and an outdoor plan needs a real fallback. And check the festival calendar before you book anything — during Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest or a major convention, the city is effectively full and prices reflect it.
If you want an evening with genuine character that does not depend on drinking, We bring the host, the storyline and every piece of the game to your venue, and we ask for about 45 days so it can be staffed and prepared properly. Pricing and availability shows what your guest count works out to, you can book a date directly, and the contact page reaches a person if you would rather talk it through first.
