Oakland teams are among the most genuinely diverse in the country, and that changes what works. Anything relying on shared cultural references falls flat; anything with a shared structure and a clear objective does well.
1. A hosted murder mystery at your own office or venue
Ours, and first because it gives everyone the same starting point regardless of background. The rules are the rules, everyone gets a character and a motive, and no shared history is required.
We come to you — Uptown, Jack London, wherever you are — and it runs in about two hours.
2. A cooking class
Oakland's food culture is genuinely exceptional and a class here means more than it does elsewhere. Twelve to twenty-five.
3. An escape room
Good for six to eight, indoors, and it fragments above that.
4. A day at Lake Merritt or Redwood Regional
Both are genuine local assets and free. Weather is rarely the issue; self-selection is.
5. A brewery buyout
A strong scene with real function space. Non-drinkers need thought.
6. A ferry trip across the bay
Contained, scenic, and a genuine change of scene. Weather-dependent and the schedule constrains you.
7. Volunteering
Very well received in this city. Parallel work rather than shared work.
8. A food crawl
Fruitvale, Temescal or downtown. Genuinely good and it splits into small groups.
The Oakland planning note
Bridge and tube traffic decides attendance for anyone commuting from San Francisco or the peninsula. An event that starts before five or after seven is a completely different proposition to one at six. BART proximity is worth more than the venue itself.
If your team spans several backgrounds and you want a level starting point, We bring the host, the storyline and every piece of the game to your venue, and we ask for about 45 days so it can be staffed and prepared properly. Pricing and availability shows what your guest count works out to, you can book a date directly, and the contact page reaches a person if you would rather talk it through first.
