Everyone assumes an Orlando team building event means a theme park. Sometimes it should. Usually it should not — a park day costs a fortune per head, takes the whole day, and splits your team into small groups who meet again at the car park having had entirely separate experiences.
Eight options, ranked by whether the team is actually together.
1. A hosted murder mystery at your own office or venue
Ours, and first because it is the opposite of a park day: everyone in one room, two hours, working on the same problem. We come to your office in Lake Nona, Maitland, downtown or wherever you are.
Everyone gets a character and a motive. Indoors and air-conditioned, which between May and October is not a small consideration.
2. A theme park day
The obvious choice and genuinely a treat. As team building it is weak — people split by ride tolerance within twenty minutes. Excellent as a reward.
3. An escape room
Orlando has an unusual number of good ones thanks to the tourist trade. Strong for six to eight, and above that the group fragments.
4. A cooking class
Good for twelve to twenty-five and reliably indoors. Priced per head.
5. A brewery buyout
Ivanhoe Village and Winter Park have options with function space. Casual and good value; non-drinkers need thought.
6. A lake day or airboat trip
Distinctively Florida and a real change of scene. Weather-dependent, and an airboat is loud enough that nobody talks.
7. Volunteering
Well received and easy to arrange. Parallel work rather than shared work.
8. A golf day
Orlando is full of courses and it suits the people who already play, which is the problem — it excludes everyone who does not, and takes most of a day to do it.
The Orlando planning note
Convention season, roughly January to May, makes hotel and venue space scarce and expensive around I-Drive. If you are booking anything in that corridor, go early or go elsewhere. And from June to September, assume the afternoon storm and plan indoors.
If you want everybody in one room actually working on the same thing, We bring the host, the storyline and every piece of the game to your venue, and we ask for about 45 days so it can be staffed and prepared properly. Pricing and availability shows what your guest count works out to, you can book a date directly, and the contact page reaches a person if you would rather talk it through first.
