The Triangle has a team building problem that is really a geography problem. Your team is spread across Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, and there is no centre — an event in one is a thirty-minute drive for the other two. And a large share of the workforce moved here in the last five years, so they do not have the shared history a longer-established team would.
Eight options, ranked.
1. A hosted murder mystery at your own office or venue
Ours, and first because it works well on a team of transplants who do not know each other well yet. Everyone gets a character and a motive — no shared history required, and the game supplies the common ground.
We come to you, which settles the geography question: hold it at your own office and only your own people drive.
2. An escape room
Several across the Triangle. Genuinely good for six to eight, and it fragments above that.
3. A brewery buyout
Raleigh and Durham both have excellent options with real function space, at good prices. Non-drinkers need thought.
4. A Hurricanes game
The atmosphere is genuinely good and it is an easy shared night out. Three hours facing the same direction.
5. A cooking class
Good for twelve to twenty-five and indoors. Priced per head.
6. A day at Umstead or a trail
Pleasant in spring and autumn, punishing in July, and self-selecting towards the already-outdoorsy.
7. Volunteering
Well received and easy to arrange. Parallel work rather than shared work.
8. A day trip to the coast or the mountains
Both are two hours away in opposite directions, which makes them a full day. A real treat and a real commitment.
The Triangle planning note
Pick the venue by whose commute it hurts least, not by which city sounds best. And plan indoors from June to early September — the humidity here is genuinely draining, and an outdoor afternoon event in July will be attended briefly.
If a good part of your team is new here and does not know each other well, We bring the host, the storyline and every piece of the game to your venue, and we ask for about 45 days so it can be staffed and prepared properly. Pricing and availability shows what your guest count works out to, you can book a date directly, and the contact page reaches a person if you would rather talk it through first.
