Richmond's employment is heavy on finance, insurance, state government and healthcare — settled organisations with long-serving staff. That is a different team building problem from a startup city. Your people already know each other; what they lack is any reason to talk to anyone outside their own floor.
Eight options, ranked.
1. A hosted murder mystery at your own office or venue
Ours, and first because it is built for exactly that — it deliberately mixes people who do not normally work together and gives them something to argue about. Everyone gets a character and a motive.
We come to you, in Scott's Addition, downtown or out towards Innsbrook, and it runs in about two hours.
2. A brewery buyout
Scott's Addition has an unusual concentration and the function spaces are genuinely good value. Non-drinkers need thought.
3. An escape room
Several downtown and in the West End. Strong for six to eight, and it fragments above that.
4. A James River day
Rafting or a float on the river is distinctively Richmond and a real change of scene. Weather-dependent and self-selecting.
5. A history walking tour
The city has more of it than most and it is genuinely interesting. A listening activity, and hard going in August humidity.
6. A cooking class
Good for twelve to twenty-five and reliably indoors. Priced per head.
7. A Flying Squirrels game
Cheap, easy and a pleasant evening. Everyone faces the same direction.
8. Volunteering
Well received. Parallel work rather than shared work.
The Richmond planning note
July and August humidity here is serious — plan indoors and treat an outdoor element as a bonus. And if your organisation has people at both a downtown office and one out at Innsbrook, the drive between them at five o'clock is longer than the map suggests.
If your team already knows each other and simply never mixes across departments, We bring the host, the storyline and every piece of the game to your venue, and we ask for about 45 days so it can be staffed and prepared properly. Pricing and availability shows what your guest count works out to, you can book a date directly, and the contact page reaches a person if you would rather talk it through first.
