Tampa has a four o'clock problem. From June to September an afternoon thunderstorm is not a risk, it is close to a schedule, and any outdoor plan needs a genuine indoor fallback rather than an optimistic one. Add a team split between Tampa, St Pete and Brandon, and the venue decision is mostly about who has to cross a bridge.
Eight options, ranked.
1. A hosted murder mystery at your own office or venue
Ours, and first because it is entirely weather-proof and we come to you, which removes the bridge question. Hold it at your own office and nobody crosses the bay in rush hour.
Everyone gets a character and a motive. It works well on a mixed team and needs no experience from anyone.
2. A boat or bay cruise
A genuine Tampa option and excellent in the right month. Weather-dependent, expensive, and it rules out anyone prone to seasickness.
3. An escape room
Indoors, which matters, and good for six to eight. Above that the group splits and never rejoins.
4. A brewery buyout
Tampa and St Pete both have plenty with real function space, and they are good value. Casual, and non-drinkers need thinking about.
5. A Lightning or Rays game
Easy, and both venues are indoors and air-conditioned, which is a real advantage here. Still three hours facing the same direction.
6. A cooking class
Good for twelve to twenty-five and reliably indoors. Costs are per head.
7. A Riverwalk outing
Pleasant between November and April and hard going in August. It is a walking activity and the group drifts into pairs.
8. Volunteering
Well received and plentiful. Parallel work rather than shared work.
The Tampa planning note
Between June and September, plan indoors and treat any outdoor element as a bonus. And check the bridge — an event in St Pete for a Tampa-based team, or the reverse, will cost you attendance in a way the map does not convey.
If you want the option that an afternoon thunderstorm cannot touch, We bring the host, the storyline and every piece of the game to your venue, and we ask for about 45 days so it can be staffed and prepared properly. Pricing and availability shows what your guest count works out to, you can book a date directly, and the contact page reaches a person if you would rather talk it through first.
