An Anchorage birthday depends entirely on the month. A June birthday can be outdoors at ten at night in full daylight. A January one needs to be indoors, early, and genuinely worth putting the parka on for.

Forty minutes down one of the world's great drives. A proper occasion.

Weather-proof and warm, which for much of the year is the whole argument.
8. A house party with something planned
Cheapest and most flexible, and in this climate by far the most common. Needs a plan.
