Spokane is the hub for an enormous, sparsely populated region, which means a lot of local organisations draw staff from a long way out. Someone driving in from Coeur d'Alene or the Palouse is not staying for an eight o'clock finish.
1. A hosted murder mystery at your own office or venue
Ours, and first because we come to you and it runs in about two hours — so somebody with a fifty-minute drive home can still be there.
Everyone gets a character and a motive, indoors, whatever January is doing.
2. A day at Riverfront Park
Genuinely excellent and right in the centre. Free, and seasonal.
3. An escape room
Indoors, good for six to eight, and it fragments above that.
4. A brewery buyout
A good scene for the city's size at fair prices. Non-drinkers need thought.
5. A day at Coeur d'Alene
Forty minutes east and a genuine change of scene. A half-day at least.
6. A cooking class
Good for twelve to twenty-five and reliably indoors.
7. A ski or snow day at Mount Spokane
Close and genuinely good. Self-selects hard.
8. Volunteering
Well received in this community. Parallel work rather than shared work.
The Spokane planning note
Ask how far people are actually driving before you set a finish time. And plan indoors from November to March — winters here are genuine and an icy evening drive back to the Palouse is a real reason not to come.
