Birthdays

An adult murder mystery dinner party, at your place

Book a private murder mystery party at home with actors who run the whole night — you just decide who to invite.

The problem with a milestone birthday is that it is usually a dinner. A good dinner, but a dinner — people sit down, talk to whoever they are next to, and go home.

Adult murder mystery parties fix that, and an at home murder mystery is the easiest version of all: we come to your house with the game, the host and the characters, and the party happens in the room you already have.

A murder mystery reorganises the room. Seven or eight guests take the key characters, each with something to hide, and everyone else is questioning them — so the friend who never talks to your work colleagues has a reason to, and the relative who normally sits quietly turns out to be the one who noticed the thing that matters.

Good for the birthdays that matter

Thirtieths, fortieths, fiftieths, sixtieths — anything where you want the night to be something people talk about afterwards rather than another table booking. It works particularly well when the guest list is a mix of people who do not all know each other, which is exactly what a milestone birthday usually is.

This is written for adults. The games are built around adult humour, adult attention spans and adult drinking, and they work best with a group that is happy to commit to playing along for a couple of hours.

At your venue

Your house, a restaurant's private room, a rented hall — wherever you want it.

Over twenty themes

Pick one to suit the group, or have one written around the birthday itself.

8 to 100 guests

Priced by the band you book, not per head. Nobody counts heads on the night.

Can we make it about the birthday person?

Yes, and it is a popular thing to ask for. A custom game can be written around them — their reputation, their history, the thing everyone in the room already knows about them. We agree the boundaries with you first so it stays funny. See custom murder mystery parties.

What you have to do

Invite people, sort the food and the room, and tell us the date. The game itself is ours: a professional host runs it start to finish, so the person whose birthday it is does not spend the night organising their own party.

We ask for 45 days' notice. Birthdays have the advantage of a fixed date you already know about — book it as soon as you have decided on the night rather than once the invitations are out.

Questions people ask

Can you book a private murder mystery party at home with actors?

Yes — that is the usual booking. Our host and characters come to your house, your rented hall or a restaurant room you have booked, and run the evening there. You do not need a stage, a script or anyone willing to perform.

What is an adult murder mystery dinner party?

Dinner with a game running through it. Every guest gets a character and something to hide, the accusations start somewhere around the main course, and the room works out who did it before the night is over. It is written for adults, not a children’s party game.

Is this suitable for a milestone birthday?

It is what it suits best. Thirtieths through sixtieths, especially where the guest list mixes friends, family and colleagues who do not all know each other.

Is it appropriate for children?

Our games are written for adults — adult humour and a couple of hours of sustained attention. For a mixed-age family party, tell us and we will be straight with you about whether it will work.

Can the game be about the birthday person?

Yes. A custom game can be written around them and it is one of the most popular requests. We agree what is fair game with you in advance so it stays funny.

Where can we hold it?

Your home, a private room at a restaurant, a hall, a hotel space — wherever you like. We come to you anywhere in the country and there is no travel charge on the quote.

How many people do we need?

From about 8 to 100. Pricing is banded by guest count rather than per person, so a few extra guests do not change what you pay.

How far ahead should we book?

Forty-five days. Book once you have settled the date, not once the invitations have gone out.
